roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">Poursuivons notre visite de l&rsquo;\u00e9glise et voyons maintenant les vitraux : Quand on p\u00e9n\u00e8tre dans l&rsquo;\u00e9glise, on est tout d&rsquo;abord frapp\u00e9 parla beaut\u00e9 et l&rsquo;\u00e9clat du ch\u0153ur (surtout au soleil levant) aux vo\u00fbtes de pierres sculpt\u00e9es, aux pendentifs \ufb01nement cisel\u00e9s rayonnant de mille teintes \ufb01ltrant au travers des magni\ufb01ques vitraux. Ces fragiles \u0153uvres d&rsquo;art dat\u00e9es de 1545 ont travers\u00e9 les si\u00e8cles pour arriver jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 nous avec plus ou moins de bonheur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">Avant 1900: <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">Jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 la \ufb01n du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, l&rsquo;\u00e9glise Saint-Sulpice de HUPPY \u00e9tait dot\u00e9e en totalit\u00e9 de ses fen\u00eatres de vitraux plus ou moins anciens. Les plus vieux datant d&rsquo;un peu avant le milieu du XVIe si\u00e8cle \u00e9taient class\u00e9s \u00ab Monuments Historiques \u203a\u203a. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">Beaucoup de baies avaient au \ufb01l des ann\u00e9es \u00e9t\u00e9 garnies de verri\u00e8res par de donateurs pour marquer un \u00e9v\u00e9nement heureux ou malheureux de leur existence (comme il \u00e9tait \u00e9galement fait pour la statuaire) Ces verri\u00e8res avaient plus ou moins de valeur tant historique qu&rsquo;artistique. Aucune \u00e9tude s\u00e9rieuse n&rsquo;est parvenue jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 nous, malheureusement car il aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 int\u00e9ressant pour nous d&rsquo;en conna\u00eetre l&rsquo;exacte description et surtout leur origine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>La restauration en 1900 :<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">Pour ce qui est de la description des verri\u00e8res actuelles nous nous r\u00e9f\u00e9rerons aux \u00e9tudes ant\u00e9rieures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">Une restauration vers 1900 (date inscrite sur la verri\u00e8re J) par la Maison LATTEUX\/BAZIN de MESNIL SAINT-FIRMIN dans l&rsquo;Oise sous la direction de M. De FRECHENCOURT et De GUYENCQURT, ex\u00e9cut\u00e9e avec go\u00fbt et comp\u00e9tence ne permet gu\u00e8re aujourd&rsquo;hui de distinguer les morceaux chang\u00e9s. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">Malheureusement plusieurs blasons manquaient; les ma\u00eetres verriers se gard\u00e8rent bien d\u2019en cr\u00e9er, mais pour ne pas laisser de blancs, ils m\u00e9lang\u00e8rent les armoiries dans certaines baies, rendant pratiquement impossible I \u2018\u00e9tablissement des \ufb01liations. Certains blasons provenant des fen\u00eatres plus r\u00e9centes ont ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 conserv\u00e9s. Apr\u00e8s cette restauration de 1900, il y avait des vitraux dans chaque fen\u00eatre de l&rsquo;\u00e9di\ufb01ce, certaines en grisailles,&#8230;.. \u00abPas pour longtemps !\u203a\u203a<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">1914: <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; color: #000000;\">Les verri\u00e8res \u00ab class\u00e9es \u203a\u203a furent d\u00e9pos\u00e9es en 1914 et repos\u00e9es apr\u00e8s la tourmente.
