\nLe 20 ao\u00fbt 1939 paraissait \u00ab Le Progr\u00e8s de la Somme \u00bb N\u00b0 21.883.\u00a0<\/span>
\nRetrouvons l\u2019actualit\u00e9 et l\u2019\u00e9tat d\u2019esprit g\u00e9n\u00e9ral qui r\u00e9gnait dans le d\u00e9partement de la Somme \u00e0 quelques jours de la d\u00e9claration de guerre de la France \u00e0 l\u2019Allemagne.<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019origine du journal :<\/span>
\nEn 1868, Ren\u00e9 GOBLET (1828-1905) fonde le journal r\u00e9publicain, \u00ab Le Progr\u00e8s de la Somme \u00bb.\u00a0<\/span>
\nProche des convictions de Charles de FREYCINET, il est partisan de l\u2019envoi d\u2019un ultimatum \u00e0 l\u2019Allemagne lors d\u2019un incident avec un garde fronti\u00e8re en avril 1887. Avocat et d\u00e9put\u00e9 pendant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es, une place de la ville d’Amiens porte son nom.<\/span>
\nLe Progr\u00e8s de la Somme \u00e9tait un des journaux de la r\u00e9gion. Il \u00e9tait marqu\u00e9 \u00e0 gauche, plut\u00f4t d’ob\u00e9dience socialiste, alors que son concurrent, \u00ab Le Journal d’Amiens \u00bb, rebaptis\u00e9 \u00ab L’Echo de la Somme \u00bb, repr\u00e9sentait une sensibilit\u00e9 plus conservatrice d’inspiration catholique.<\/span>
\nComme son rival, Le Progr\u00e8s de la Somme changea de titre et prit le nom de \u00ab La Picardie Nouvelle \u00bb. Apr\u00e8s la Lib\u00e9ration, les deux principaux repr\u00e9sentants de la presse \u00e9crite du d\u00e9partement de la Somme fusionn\u00e8rent pour donner naissance au \u00ab Courrier Picard \u00bb en octobre 1944.<\/span><\/p>\n
